This article is reprinted from Ana Kalaw's Kiss Ass column at Y style of the Philipine Star. Interviewed for this article were Luke Jickain, Paolo Paraiso and Brent Javier. Since this is Brent Javier's site, we are posting only Brent's responses.
For the fifth straight year, the fun and fearless Cosmopolitan magazine undresses ten of the hottest and most beautiful bods, providing an upper we haven't had since witnessing Brad Pitt's dishelved and naked resplendence in Troy.
Model/actors Luke Jickain and Paolo Paraiso and ramp and commercial favorite Brent Javier are part of the beautiful ten which include models Corey Wills and Joe Vince Canizares, Swatch endorser Borgy Manotoc, MYX veejay Mark San Diego, cagers Rob Duat and Doug Kramer, and R&B star Jay-R. Unclothed, these three are hot vehicles of six-pack abs and strong biceps. Fully dressed, without the muscles to cause distraction, Luke, Paolo and Brent are easily those boy-next-door types high school girls crush on and doodle hearts over. Their easy smile and boyish, almost pretty, features complement the church choir, pep rallies, ice cream and soda shops, or an Abercombie and Fitch catalog.
By stripping them to less than bare necessities, Cosmo has made Brent, Paolo and Luke into the stuff naughty fantasies are built on. They are now drooled over instead of doodled on notebook paper. Have you always wanted to be a model? No. I got into it by accident. I just came here to the Philippines for vacation and it just happened.
Did you ever think you had to strip? No. Up until the day of the shoot, I didn't think I was going to do it but they showed me the pictures of the other guys probably to challenge me. I did it not because I got challenged by them but because I personally challenged myself to do it.
What's the most daring thing you've done? Probably that shoot.
Best dating experience? It's usually not the scenario or the place but the company you keep or the connection you have when you go out with someone.
Worst dating experience? With pretentious, snobby girls that expect everything even though we don't know each other that well.
Describe a sexy woman. Confident. She has a beautiful smile, she's attractive inside and out. Did I say humor? Because that's important. And she's got to be smart.
Do you like being a pretty boy? In a way I do. Everybody thinks I'm high-maintenance, that I go to the derma and that I wear all these nice clothes. I'm just a casual guy, though. I just wear jeans and shirt.
What's your greatest achievement? Being able to support myslef out here the past two years.

Where you've seen him: Brent has appeared in several ads for Century Tuna, Pond's, Smart, Robinson's Department Store, Del Monte and McDonalds. We predict the list grow longer. And if you see anyone roller - blading to Gold's Gym Glorietta, that might just be Brent.
What catches his attention: "I see how she acts with other people, the way she talks, the conversations she brings up, etcetera. I don't like girls who are trying to get attention from other people, they tend to be noisy and rowdy. The best girl would be someone who gets along with everyone."

Meltdown!
Brent has to know that everyone wants a piece of him. His looks are not scarily chiseled like an icy Michael Bergin nor is he the emaciated looking boy from the Dior ads (Shaun de Wet). Rather, he reminds you of a guy every girl had a crush on in high school ..with better clothes. His coy good looks do not betray his personality either. His endearing vulnerable quality actually makes you feel guilty for "macking" on him. Rather, you get this feeling of wanting to take care of him. Whether he's hawking toothpaste, clothes, hair gel or food, you just buy it, hoping that his puppy dog eyes will light up, even just for a second.
By just looking at you, he instantly warms up the heart and heats up the loins. No wonder we all know his name. Brent is on his way to becoming the face of the year. If he plays his cards right and doesn't turn into an asshole, which is the case among many confident Zoolanders who always turn up late and drunk for shoots, he will find himself in good and profitable company. At 22 (at time of article-ed) he is still quite naive in many ways, which is refreshing.
I mean, he knows he looks good, which is good because it's annoying to hear ramble about how unattractive they are and point to their toes as the nucleus of their imperfections. However, he doesn't get the feeling that everyone wants to bed him (which is a level of utter success on the model success meter). He doesn't get the feeling that he will be doing this for long. He plays around with supermodels instead of hitting on them. He laughs during shoots. He doesn't talk too much, but he certainly know when it's time to hit a burger. He is in many ways a little boy, a Peter Pan of sorts. "I'm really shy," he confesses. " I guess that's really part of who I am. However, it doesn't bother me. I know who I am am and that's what matters. I know I can be crazy and funny only to those who really know me. I really don't have to share that with everyone."
The hearthrob shuttles back and forth between Manila and Canada - he is still figuring out his permanent game plan. For now, the jetsetting will do. He hangs out with the creamiest men of the current crop that includes Rich Herrera of the Stare to Melt Academy. He hangs with his posse of pulchritude, and every night of boozing means chicks hitting on them shamelessly. "In Canada, women tend to be more reserved. Here they are very friendly, which is cool, but sometimes it gets a bit too much. I'm a flirt myself, but I just can't be in the business of throwing lines. Frankly, I'm still quite conservative in many ways and it gets a bit shocking to see full force mack behavior," he shares, puppy eyes looking downward.
Much like how he sees himself, his definition of sexiness is basically being comfortable in your own skin, "You can tell if someone has something going on. It's not that easy to hide." True enough, that chick who finds herself engulfed with his definition of hot will find herself in the warm company in the warm company of notes left on her pillow and little romantic gestures that Brent admits to.

Brent Javier - The Current Big Thing!
Born to Filipino parents based in Canada, this twenty three year old model and student came to Manila to tryout his luck for the Philippine Basketball Association.
However, when modelling came in his way, and destiny laid it's plans for this stylish pretty-boy, he never turned back ever since.
Brent may look snobbish with his relaxed and hushed persona, but he'll leave anyone he meets with his mark of professionalism. He was on time for the shoot, he just stayed were he was sitting while waiting for his take, he even had the initiative to fix the attire he used for the shoot, and not to forget, he would eat anything you serve him which defines him to be one down-to-earth guy who takes charge of his life.
What's compelling about interviewing D' Brent is his regular guy demeanor. Even with this young man's early success in his career, he doesn't let his fame dig into his head. Regardless the amountof limelight being focused on him, "I still consider myself an up-and-comer in the industry." he says. He has a refreshingly humble attitude which you rarely see this days. (ed)
